Wooden delivery tag from the Edo period
荷入の納品札
A wooden delivery bill enclosed when delivering goods to customers in the Edo period. It is written Shoutoku 3, which is 1713 A.D. It is surprising that such a wooden tag was used as a delivery bill in Japan more than 300 years ago. The back side is so beautiful that you can use it as a shiki-ita (mat board) when you enjoy tea ceremony. It is a precious item that reminds us of Japanese wabi and sabi.
